Been a bit busy lately, so I have stumbled in keeping up with the bloggin’. It’s “pattern time” with McKenna Ryan, so the bulk of my time has been taken up with that. Her new series (sorry, I can’t give details) is pretty dang cool if I do say so myself. I can’t wait for it to be released.
I have been getting on the wheel every morning, plus another glaze load came out of the kiln with some of the pieces I’ve mentioned in this blog. Namely the coffee filter vessel, which I was really excited about. One came out beautiful (see below), the other… well, it’s pretty, but it warped a bit in the final firing so the top doesn’t quite fit as well as I would like. My house is filled with this niche category of pottery - I can’t responsibly sell them, but I like them too much to trash. (I also got a couple of “well balanced” mugs that unfortunately had small cracks in the bottom (I love a good mug).
Both Gina and I are starting really dig the white glaze below. It has come subtle colors within the white, some matt here, glossy in others, but most of all it highlights the translucent quality of the porcelain body. I haven’t put the Tea Pot on sale the website yet , but will… it’ll come as a set with 2 cups, $120. I put a detail of a cup as well so you can see the quality of this glaze.
