Wood Fired Pottery - The Pots

Wood Fired Pottery
I recently took a wood fired pottery class from Andrew Stephensen (http://www.ajspottery.com). Pots fired with wood have winderful atsmospheric effects on the glaze due the flame and ash flying around the kiln. It was my first time one, and having my own pots in there. We had our firing last saturday, Gina and kids came to help stoke. The heat was intense. Below are a few pictures of the firing. It takes 2 days for the kiln to cool down, so I’ll head back tomorrow to see how my stuff came out.

Sailing Videos
Well, this doesn’t have much to do with pottery or art (I could elaborate on the beauty of boats as vessels and pots as vessels and the aesthetic similarities of both - but I won’t), it does have to do with the one hobby I have that I don’t try and turn into a business - “A boat is a hole in the water into which you pour money”. We love sailing, the whole family, and below are two videos of our beloved boat Hindoo. These are worth watching for the sound tracks alone. The second one is only 10 minutes.
It’s a short video, but I like to watch it when I can’t go out sailing.
It’s a WMV file so you will need a Windows Media Player to view it.

This video is alot longer than the one above.
It highlights our week on Hindoo this past April, complete with dolphins,
glow in the dark jellyfish and a baby duck.
